Ysgol y Foryd is a successful infant school catering for about 240 children from  Kinmel Bay, Towyn, Rhyl , Abergele and surrounding areas.
 
The school and grounds have been extensively developed during recent years to provide the very best for our pupils. We have a fully equipped, self-contained Nursery class called Traed Bach.  We also have a Nurture class called Dosbarth Seren, eight well-resourced classrooms, a library and an IT suite.  We have 16  iPads regularly accessed by our pupils and staff run regular parent courses, including IT sessions for children and adults.  We have a range of planned Intervention Groups in school to support and extend our pupils as appropriate.  Our school is an accredited Beach School and classes study the local beaches and woodland at least termly.  A great addition is our fantastic school mini-bus.  Pupils learn to swim at the local pool in Rhyl and benefit from the adjacent sports facilities at the Morfa Leisure Centre.  An extensive programme of after-school activities and clubs is available and pupils receive Children’s University accreditation for their attendance.  We work closely with our neighbouring junior school, Ysgol Maes Owen, and this aids a smooth transition for all our pupils.  Our school has a free breakfast club which operates every day and provides high quality care. 
 
Ysgol y Foryd was awarded another Investors in People Award recently during which it was highlighted that:

We are a constantly improving, forward thinking school.  We have gained Healthy Schools and Eco Awards, the Basic Skills Quality Award, Active Mark, Fairtrade School Status and NACE membership.
