Welsh Language Development

This Area of Learning focuses on children learning to use and communicate in Welsh to the best of their ability.

Skills are developed through communicating in a range of enjoyable, practical planned activities and using a range of stimuli that build on and increase children’s previous knowledge and experiences.

The children’s oral experiences should be used to develop their reading skills.  They should listen to a range of stimuli, including audio visual material and ICT interactive software.

?Mawrth 2017 Eisteddfod Ysgol gyntaf Ysgol y Foryd
?Flwyddyn yma am y tro cyntaf, cynhaliwyd Eisteddfod Ysgol ar Ddydd Gwyl Dewi. Roedd y plant wedi bod yn brysur yn ymarfer yn eu tai (Alaw, Brenig a Crafnant) ac wedi bod yn gwneud gwaith cartref yn seiliedig ar eu themau -Blwyddyn 2 Cestyll, Blwyddyn 1 Dreigiau a Dosbarth Derbyn a Meithrin Cenin Pedr. Daeth y plant i'r ysgol wedi gwisgo mewn dillad traddodiadol neu mewn lliwiau Cymru - coch, gwyn a gwyrdd. Mrs Jones oedd yn arwain y bore gyda Mrs Hampson yn eistedd yn barod i feirniadu y cystadlu. Roedd wledd o gystadlu ac awyrgylch gret o amgylch yr ysgol, gyda'r plant a'r staff yn cefnogi ei gilydd. Roedd hir wir yn fore y gallwn ddweud "Dw i'n brod o fyw yng Nghymru".
?March 2017 Ysgol y Foryd's first School Eisteddfod.
?This year, for the first time we were excited to celebrate St.David's day with a School Esiteddfod. The children had been practicing in their houses (Alaw, Brenig and Crafnant) and had been working hard at home to create art work based on their topic  -Year 2 Castles, Year 1 Dragons, Reception and Nursery dafodils. The children came to school dressed in their traditional clothes or the colours of Wales - red, white and green. Mrs Jones led yn morning with Mrs Hampson sitting ready to adjudicate the competitions. The competitions were of such high standard and Mrs Hampson had some tough decisions to make. The atmosphere around school was amazing with the children and staff all cheering for each other. It really was a morning where we were all able to say "I'm proud to live in Wales".
