Mental Health Awareness Week May 2023

It's Mental Health Awareness Week and we wanted to share information with you as parents to make sure you are looking after yourselves, that you are getting the support that you need, that you are talking to friends and family or the right professionals - there is so much help out and we are here to help! Because when you are feeling well and secure, happy and safe we see it in your children and equally when you are finding daily tasks difficult, feeling like you can't talk to anyone your children will show this. Mental Health affects everyone - children, teens and adults

At Ysgol y Foryd we know how important it is to keep talking and supporting each other. We are here to listen, without judgement and to help signpost you to the right place to get the support you need. During the week, we will be sharing information, video clips, websites, books, resources, ideas to help you and your family.

What is mental health?

Mental health is about how we think, feel and act. Just like physical health: everybody has it and we need to take care of it.

Our mental health is on a spectrum, and can range from good to poor.

Good mental health can help you to think positively, feel confident and act calmly.

If you have poor mental health, you might find that the way you're thinking, feeling or acting becomes difficult to cope with. You might not enjoy things you used to like doing. You might feel sad or angry for a longer time than usual. Or you might feel like you can’t control how you feel or behave.
